Any comments on GPS based lap timers

I'm thinking about getting one for the "track mapping" capability.  I'm just not sure I want to fork out $650 for one.  

Looks pretty cool.  What do y`all think?

I would love to have a lap timer. Folks at Barber said they had one and part of the mechanism was at the stripe and you had to buy some component for the bike? Not sure what that is about.

I looked at a new ZX6, just to burn some time, and that bike had one integrated into the dash and left handle bar. Now THAT is cool!

I dunno, without one, I just can just make up my times. Thats right, I was running high minute fortys at a 2.3 mile track!

Thanks Randy. I may just go with it. This one is "stand alone" and doesn't need a separate "beam" at the line. Lots of bells and whistles.

I use the XT timer and all of the tracks I have been to use their beacon. A lap timer is a great tool to gauge your improvement......
