I've got a relative wanting to go down range I know he would be interested. Any contact info for your company:thumbsup:

What happen to ALL AMERICAN CONTRACTORS out of Afgan directed by the Afgan Government last week ??? . They are suppose to be out within a year. My opinion is, we didn't or will not pay the $$$$$$ to Karzi he is demanding in extortion to stay

It sounds interesting .
Will it be in base or off base ?
Guarded or not guarded ?
If it's guarded, by whom Afghani forces or US forces ?
What type of work and how much experience is needed ?

I've been contracting for the US Govt for several years but only supplying them with items needed for Iraq and Afghanistan .
I'm interested to hear more about it .
What company is it ?

Fluor engineering
On base w a little bit of travel
Military escorts

Dunno about who protects

Engineering work

check into the tax laws you'll find you have to be out of the U.S. for 330 days of the year and only the first $91,000 is tax free anything over that you pay taxes on. living conditiions aren't the greatest most U.S. contractrs are living in 32 man (bunk beds) airconditioned tents. the summer was Africa hot and it is SUPER DUSTY. foods ok very bland but its free so is laundry but it's not very clean. as for security this base has about 20,000 people on it lots of army. we do get rocket attacks about every other night and have had a couple small ground attacks at the fence. 2 nights ago a rocket hit 10 yards outside our hanger damaging 2 aircraft and 2 minor injuries. it's different than being in the states and is not for everyone. we have had 1 person decide to leave after our bigger attack, found out this wasn't for them.

I'm going with the highest bidder. :) PS Theres also a lot of work in Somalia...

Most of that is true. I was over there for a year, not getting paid squat in the Army. Same risks, different reward.
Truth is you can be crossing the street or riding one day, and BAM!, your dead and broke. 400,000 smackeroos, you need to be on the first plane out. That could put you in a very financially stable position. Ex has been over there for 5 years with KBR. She might retire when she gets back next year at the ripe old age of 33. I will close saying opportunities like this don't come along everyday, if you choose to go make sure to keep your head down and please just stay on post. No need to try and enjoy the local culture. Keep your paychecks pinned to your mirror to keep your eye on the prize. :beerchug:

yea man, for 400k a year, you bet your kiester i'd be there in a second.

I wouldn't hold my breath for that salary  . More like $50 to $75,000 if your in a simi admin operational position. And, if you don't know someone, FORGET going to Somalia. For your information, MOST security around the World is done by Ex SAS Brits (Saudi Royal Family exam:) or Ex French Foreign Legionaire (who with Active Duty Foreign Leagionaires do 50% of Government Protection in Africa). So, don't get real excited about your Basic training background or 3 years in the Marines getting you a 400K job.

Also, if you do go overseas, MAKE SURE you know who your WORKING FOR. It's a long time in crummy filthy prisons for just a low bid contractor who finds himself in trouble.

Been there, Seen it, BE CAREFUL :beerchug:

I worked in Iraq for 2 years....not that amount of money.
It isn't THAT bad considering the what some of the military goes through for less. You can be killed even if you stay on base....get to know the sound of mortar tubes and rockets. Work on your 40 yard dash. No matter how much you make there will alway be people who complain....it irks me. Take your vacation and don't try and work through it...you will be ready to hurt someone by the time your next RR comes up. Some military will be rude as hell to you....angry at what you're making. I was prior military so didn't bother me as much. If you are married.....make time to talk to each other. It is rough if you aren't used to it.

Been there done that too. I've completed 4 1/2 yrs in Iraq and Afghanistan and If anyone is thinking of going there ... Be careful

I'm now in Dubai working ... love it

Stay safe

Actually theres a LOT of work In Thailand BY American Companies... pays 75k-120k a year. Mostly construction , but still an ok check and lots of nice stuff to do. nuk nuk

I was actually looking into going to Antartica for a year....just to say i had been on every continent someday...lol. the pay is actually the same as the states in places and no tax exemption....it would have been more for the experience than anything.
