I just finished putting my bike back together. It was down for 3 years. I replaced everything to new on the bike. over 7k in fixing it. bike had less than 1k miles on it and trans messed up. Worked on the bike for 6 months and started it up 3 days ago. rode around and noticed a lil leak on the drain plug. changed the oil drain plug stripped. it just spins. anyways i took everything back aprt last night took about 30 mins to pull everything to get the pan off. what needs to be done. tap or repl pan?!?.

If it can be tapped and replaced with a larger thread size bolt that's alot cheaper than a pan. I'de at least try before I bought a pan.

Retap the pan, had that happen to me last summer, cheaper than a oil pan.

Helicoil it....Ive done a few of these and find its the best way. try your local fastener shop and they do a helicoil kit. You tap the pan out to a larger size the install a stainlass thread insert...Use original plug and problem solved forever.
