Hello everyone! :beerchug:

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a long time, but I've had major health problems that prevented me from enjoying motorcycle rides.
Even at this event that I'm going to present to you below, I went by my personal car, my wife driving.

I still would like to show you all how an annual meeting of Suzuki Hayabusa owners and lovers in Romania goes, although not everyone I know came, and by far not all owners in the country either.
However, we had the pleasure of hosting four Greek members from Hayabusaclub Thessaloniki, whom I would like to thank for their presence.

For now, I'm posting a few images, and I'll be back with more, as well as videos for each day of the meeting.

The event took place from June 20th to 22nd (last weekend), at a guesthouse complex located on the famous Transfagarasan road in Romania.
PS: in the meantime I got a drone!

Thank you!
My red Hayabusa awaits me for quite some time now.
My health got better just a month ago after years of heavy medication, but I still have to wait until August because the doctor lowered my meds and now he has to see if my condition comes back. He says there are only 3-5% chance for that to happen, but we still have to be sure.

BTW, this is Transfagarasan views from above, the famous side:

Looks like a great ride!

We used to have a pretty big group, when the Gen 1 was all there was…even had reps from Suzuki make an appearance once…

I wish that would spin up again.
We used to have a base motorcycle club that went defunct......

I found out someone I knew was the president and had all the information but no members (he was a tool-bag) so I took over and advertised to get some new members...I had just come back to the brigade into a conventional position so I had more time on my hands....

I wound up with around 10 core members with a few more who would show up once in a while.....

We did a few things together-had a float in the Santa Claus parade and rode for July 1st (Canada's birthday), did riding patrols with the military police in the military housing area.....

I got posted out and the club fell off, the VP who took over stopped organizing rides and didn't want to participate in anything......he said he only joined because I was in charge and was the VP for the same reason...

It was sad to see it fall apart like that......not long ago I reached out to a few of the former core members to do a couple rides together for nostalgia sake but everyone had some sort of reason why they couldn't.....

Greece is one of my daughter’s favorites. She’s going again next year.
I have a nephew who inherited an olive grove in Greece from his father, I can't remember the village....

He really enjoys it there....his name is Stratus of course so he fits right in....he spoke no Greek so had a steep learning curve as he has employees to manage.....

Didn't have time to do a proper video in english but here are a few more pictures taken during the meeting:

Have a nice weekend everyone and thanks for watching!
Hope that soon I'll be getting back to long motorcycle travel.

Thanks! Transfagarasan is well known as the most beautiful road in Romania although is recommened to not attempt it douring the weekend because there are a lot of cars crossing it.

Also known as "bear road"... and it's not Yogi or some friends of him!
A few days ago, there was even an unfortunate incident: an Italian motorcyclist got too close to a female bear with cubs and she became violent, killing the motorcyclist after dragging him 60 meters into a ravine... The tourist had forgotten that bears are not domestic animals...

I think the pictures of that disfigured tourist, eaten by the bear, should be put on big billboards for the idiots who imagine that a wild bear is as gentle as a dog or cat. There are billboards that inform that it is not allowed to feed wild animals and to keep your distance, but what can you expect from idiots?

The road is quite dangerous due to the stupidity of those with cars who stop on curves desperate to take pictures of bears, thus trapping you on the motorcycle with few escape routes in case the bear becomes violent...
On our visit there we encountered 15 bears roaming the road, mostly waiting for food thrown from the cars by idiot turists!

I wrote all this with potential European motorcycle tourists who would like to visit the Transfagarasan Highway in mind, to warn them to remember that wild bears are not little lambs taking selfies and our government cannot protect you more than by putting up information boards...

Please take this warning seriously if you plan to ride on Transfagarasan road or ANY OTHER mountain forested road in Romania. There are far to many wild bears in Romania and our goverment laws forbid shooting them.

Having said that, the highest paved road from Romania is DN67C - Transalpina (2145m - 7037ft). I hope to visit there with my motorcycle and get some pictures to post here later this year, maybe...

I’m kinda surprised that bears are so numerous in areas where people congregate. Aren’t there any game wardens over there? My son and I were on motorcycles in Yellowstone NP and got blocked by stopped tourists watching three bison walking slowly down the other lane from the safety of their cars and RVs. The first one was a bull about the size of a HumVee and the two following were the size of VW bugs. The bull came within 8’ of my son. We froze and luckily the bison were just out for a peaceful stroll on the blacktop we humans put on their land….

Nobody does nothing. They all debate maseures in talkshows meanwhile bears multiplied beyond measure. Bear are now roaming the streets of major sky resorts in broad daylight some time, and all they do is send the the police to chase it away. Bears now came freely into houses and guesthouses near the forests, killed livestock and dogs and the goverment sleeps on their feet.

The situation has worsened, but there are no bears in every city. But they have multiplied badly and should be reduced, either moved to other forests in Europe or shot.
In the meantime, they shot the bear that killed the Italian. And look, those cubs are left without their mother. Because idiots don't understand that if they feed the bears, they will come out onto the road more often. Combined with human stupidity, an incident becomes inevitable.
The law allows aggresive bears to be shot.

The authorities say that on Transfagarasan there are 110 bears when it there should be 25.
Here's one captured from my car Friday while going to the meeting place.. In total we saw over 14 on a 20 km stretch of winding roads. Bigger and smaller. Many straight on the road blocking trafic, others on the side...
