OK, venting a little... decided it was time to change the tires on my HD Heritage Classic mind you it has spoked wheels. Now, that's the kicker cause I've never done a set before. Long story short I get em done in a flash (No-Mar) couldn't have been any easier... Just one little tiny thing remained, the balance! I do this all the time with the Busa's and it ain't rocket science so I set out to do this on the HD. Well how the heck do you take the weights off a spoked rim? They aren't sticky back wheel weights! No these clamp around the spoke and slide down towards the rim.. After about twenty minutes of serious prying/pushing I decide to not risk damaging my rims and opt to take them to the Stealership (HD). So, I drop them off and wait on site (one wheel only). They come and get me after a couple of minutes and tell me its ready. Now comes the shocker..... $45 to balance my hand carried in rim/wheel! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

What the (fill in your favorite explicative here)
Pretty sure I covered all known colorful metaphors upon discovering the cost.

To late to change my mind at this point, so I went ahead and paid the cashier but have NO plans of ever returning...

Geezzzz !!! My wife took our SUV to a tire shop and they rotated the tires and balanced each one for a total of $45.00 for all four ! They had to put the SUV on a lift and remove and reinstall 4 tires plus balancing. Glad it wasnt a Harley...

One of the bike shops here wanted 65.00 per tire to do one tire while still on the bike. and 40.00 if I brought the wheel off of the bike. I found a place to do it for 15.00 with the wheel off the bike. Thats putting on the tire and balancing. I was happy as a lark.

I usually pay 10.00 USD for mounting and balancing off the bike. Good shop called MC tires in San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, ca. Don't go to dealers. Support your small local business run by riders like you.

I take off any wheel weights on all My harley's and throw them away. Mount the tire with the yellow dot at the stem and Poof! Done. No issues on any of my bikes in 100's of thousands of miles.

This is what I do on the Busa too. Yes it's been tested from 0 MPH up. No problems.

45 is kind of steep. I charged 50 if I had to take the wheel off the bike dismount and remount a new tire. 5 more if I had to put a new tube in), or 25 to dismount and remount if the whel was brought to me.. This did come with the ballancing and a quick clean up.

I swear as soon as I can afford it, I am getting a tire tool and changer. A local shop charged me 35 bucks per wheel to change tires and balance with me bringing in the wheels and tires off the bike. That was 70 bucks to have them mounted off the bike. The dealers would not touch them because I did not order my tires from them.

BWAHAHAHA, welcome to the world of Hardley Driveable, didn't you know HD means Hundred Dollars?? HOWEVER, that is crazy, I would contact the owner...........

No weights on my wheels or my fat boy either.
