And now, some suspension porn

I sent my Elka shock to Accelerated Technologies. I was always pissed that every manufacturer said you couldn't add a hydraulic preload adjuster to a Gen 2. Never say never. Got it resprung, reshimmed and added the preload adjuster. Will be installing it tomorrow. Too bad Elka doesn't make motorcycle shocks anymore, they look hot!

Very nice!!
Can you give us some history on your shock, how long have you had it, where did you get it, the cost? Stuff like that.
Nice job on the added preload adjuster too.

I've had it for around 6 years on my previous Busa. But then it had a 700lb spring that was too light and the valving was too soft. Worked great for street but I was running it at almost fully closed compression clickers. Now I'm running 800 pound spring with much more aggressive valving. I think back then I payed around 800 for this shock which is a great price considering what you get. Oh and it survived my previous bikes crash. How's that for quality lol

Got it installed today. Had forgotten what a pain it is to deal with the original cans. Last time I did this I had a R77 4-1. So new things popped up. With the rear 200/60 the tilt is so high that the rearstand wouldn't fit right. Needed help to keep the bike straight to get it under hahaha. Then when popping the shock out from the bottom all that extra meat on the tire made it almost impossible to remove the shock. I wiggled and turned and shook the crap out of it till it gave in. Almost had to take all of the linkage apart. With the hydraulic preload it's tight in there, a few degrees of orientation for the hose would be good. For now I don't think it will be a problem. Now to find a better way to attach it all to the exterior. The ride is suberb. Now to dial it all in, that will take a few days since I'm so picky and sensitive. BTW anyone running gas charged cartridges or forks in the front? I have been considering going gas charged for the forks.
