Alternate to Frame Sliders?

I know there has been a lot of discussion lately on frame sliders. I had them on my previous Gixxer and they worked on the one time my bike hit the ground, fell over in a buddies driveway, no damage. But, I'm still not sure about them on the Busa (cutting the plastic, looks, etc.). I have seen these alternate "buttons" that mount on the side of the fairing using the fairing center fastener. I don't think these would help in a moving crash but would be okay for a drop. Anyone have any experience with these or know a source?

I wouldn't trust them in a lowside. They don't stick out very far and aren't bolted on as tightly as other frame sliders. But they might save a bike from broken plastics if dropped in the garage.

I cut mine and I think that they look fine, well the side that I cut with the hole saw looks awesome and the side I did with a dremel looks okay.
