not to thread jack, but how do you adjust the chain itself?

my bike has 9k miles on it, i've owned it since 1800 miles, i've never once adjusted the chain. only cleaned it.

The stock chain is garbage. Replace it.

I got 19,000 miles out of the stock chain. I had to adjust 3 times in the first 1,500 miles. After that, the ony adjustments were made when the rear tire was replaced.
