All state farm customers

Hey fellas. I know a while back we had a thread on who would you recommend for insurance? I said State Farm cuz I use them and I saw that 90% of the people on this board do. Well I was wondering if what I am about to tell happened to anyone else. I got my yearly premium notice the other day. To my surprise it was 22$ a month higher now. Well as some of you may know I got a speeding ticket on the Busa about 4 weeks ago. I was concerned thinking this may have been the cause. Well I called my agent just to ask him what the deal was. He was like well bud I show in my computer that this is correct you were supposed to have a increase let me call our rate specialists and find out why and i will call you back. He called me back about 15 minutes later and said well man I have the scoop. The lady I talked to said you did not do anything wrong so don't think you did. She said all state farm customers with YOUR bike that are under 25 are seeing this increase across the board. So basically until october when I get my 25th b-day I am paying 22$ more a month. So this sucks. I mean I am not complaining cuz it's still way cheaper than most but I am getting an increase just for having a busa. What a crock of ####! Anyone else get this I am just wondering?

my premiums went up about $10 per month and I have no tickets. Still the cheapest for the Busa. I guess it's worth it???

Mine stayed the same for the bikes, but even better, I went from an 02 PT Cruiser to an 02 Explorer 4X4 and my premium for it went down 180 per year

It irks me that they don't bother to explain a rate increase to their customers.
I'll tell ya what ticks me off. Well like u said them not explaining it to you is crap. You get a bill thats obviously not what you had been paying OF COURSE you are gonna wanna know where your money is going. But the fact that an insurance company can just change rates when they feel like it when you did NOTHING to ruffle the equation is bull crap. Now if you go out and get a list of tickets as long as your arm I can see them upping you because you are proving to be careless. However, to raise your insurance just because Suzuki ups the cost of parts on the bike or to GROUP you into a risk factor because of your age is bullshit. Someone could be 22 and ride that bike more carefull then a 35 year old. Its all in personality not AGE! Even though I know I am the last person to ##### about it I think they should judge your rate on your driving record cuz rather than ASSUME because you are under 25 you are gonna be wild why not just look at your past. That actually speaks for itself.

They don't look at your specific driving record because then they have to look at each driver, one at a time - that costs them too much money - your premiums would go up, probably more than $22 a month. Plus, it would be easier for their employees to make a mistake rating you personally, and that opens them up to litigation.

For insurance companies, it's all about statistics. Much easier for them to lump you into a group and average the risk. Accident rates, costs involved in those accidents (on average), all that stuff figures in.

I know it sucks, but if rates are going up for all Hayabusa owners under 25, it's because as a group, they pose a larger risk.

I have no love for insurance companies, I view them as a necessary evil...

I'm 34 married and perfect driving record and I pay 88 bucks a month for full coverage through state farm, also have both the trucks there and later this year hopefully the homeowners policy as well. Both trucks are 88 bucks each a month as well, 2004 tahoe and 2004 ram 4x4.

I'm 21 and mine didn't go up...yet. But I still haven't gotten my bill for this month though.

sometimes it can also be your state's policies regarding liability, ability and allowances for lawsuits, etc. that can cause premiums to go up. Some insurance companies pulled out of New Jersey years ago due to the various laws on the books at the time. YMMV.

Still, it never helps when some schmuck wheelies his bike into traffic, or on top of himself or anything else that makes for great internet movies...all that crap eventually costs us all more $$$$$...

Yep , that used to get to me when I was under 25 as well. You hit that "magic" age and overnight you become a more responsible rider?

Trouble is, they base their premiums off the cost of parts and accident statistics for all riders, good and bad, so the risk gets spread to those of us who ride sensibly. In affect we subsidize the insurance premiums of the bad drivers/riders, to cover the cost of their accidents.

Kind of makes a mockery of "no claims bonuses" etc.

Getting a speeding ticket shouldn't increase your premium either - statistically everyone does it so why should you be penalized as an individual just because you got caught?

I hate insurance fuggers... especiall here they are a fugging pain in the ass! They take the premium and jerk off when it comes to claims... all the lame mo fuggers

I had Progressive on all my cars a few years back, and out of nowhere, my premium went up over $800. I've never had a speeding ticket or insurance claim of any kind, so I called assuming there was some mistake and was told, very tersely, "We've had a lot of fraudulent claims in New York and can't keep operating at a loss in your state". Talk about a crock of ####... I immediately switched to Geico for my cars, but returned to Progressive for my motorcycles. I'm currently paying $700 a year for liability and comprehensive only on a '03 Hayabusa and an '03 V-Rod.

I'm sticking with State Farm. They were always there when I needed them and had a check ready and when I crashed my Busa they even payed my medical bills and were nice enough to call me to see how I was doing since I could'nt ride for a few months. I laugh at the ones that get the cheapest insurance then start #####'in because they won't pay up or they can't reach anyone. You get what you pay for!

I would totally have to agree there man. When I was in my bike wreck they had the paperwork ready when I got out of my 6 day hospital stay. The lady called to see if I could sign the papers and I said I couldn't drive yet. She asked where I was and I told her. She said no problem I can make a trip down to you. She drove 40 minutes to MY HOUSE for me to sign everything and cut me a check to replace my helmet and what I had left out of the bike loan on the spot. Not too mention she was hella hot and made a boy feel better just looking at her fine ass! lol. This is the only wreck I had to file a claim on in my life but I had a stereo stolen out of my truck once and they were ultra fast and easy to deal with on the claims. State farm is the only insurance I have had since I was 16 and unless they do something to totally change what they are doing now I will be with them always.
