the flapper gate works on a vacuum pipe.at low revs the gate is shut,as you go through the revs,the gate is opened by the vacuum pipe giving the airbox more air,at full throttle the gate is fully open. when i modify my busas with an exhaust system i cut the gate out,because if you didnt,when you snap the throttle open,the bike will almost certainly cough ,because the gate cant open quick enough in time with your wrist.....any use to you
