(wierd thread-bare with me....sorry:laugh:)

Okay, I have fought this battle a LONG time, and have no choice but to leave

it to the folks who always have an answer:please:

straight up, WHAT WORKS?! my face is pissed, and I give :banghead:

lol thanks in advance

38 years ago I started with shaving creme and old style razor. Had to figure out which direction to pull the razor, mainly on my neck. About 8 years later I discovered shaving in the shower with soap and a newer improved razor. Currently using Mach III

Hope I got your thread right.

sure did....I know it sounds stupid but I cant find any product that works...will try the shower though haha thanx:thumbsup:

If you "NEED" aftershave, you might want to look into some different products for shaving, if your face is irritated and such...

FWIW Hayabusa.org is a veritable font of shaving intel. A few years back we had quite the shaving debate/discussion/round table.

At the time I was championing the Gillette Mach 3 and a Gillette shave gel as well I believe.

For the last few years though, It's all about the Gillette Fusion Power. I know I know, the blades are pricey and 5 edges PLUS a small detail blade, PLUS the vibrating head seems like a little bit much. Well the hype and silly names are a little bit much for sure...

BUT

Don't let that steer you away from the most comfortable Shave out there IMHO. The Gillete Fusion Power is different, but it works, it's the only razor that I can run directly against the grain without discomfort. The vibrations work to break the surface tension, makes the blades glide better, and makes cool weedwacker noises but it does work to make the shave even smoother.

I know it seems silly, but give it a try with this, Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel It kicks butt as well, easily the best shave gel I've ever used, little to no skin irritation, no shaving bumps, and rinses clean.

SO try both, and remember with any new blade and handle, give it a week or so, the Gillette Fusion especially, the rear hinged heads take a bit of getting used to.

Even if you're not down with the Gillette Fusion, Give the Aveeno a try.

Otherwise, Nivea is the bomb...

I prefer the older Nivea for Men Skin Essentials stuff. However, I've used a few of their products and they are good stuff. I can lotion up the face and NOT have any sort of breakout. I'm willing to bet their Aftershave products would be good stuff as well, but I've never used any. Willing to bet though that their "cool kick" stuff would feel great for you folks in the warmer climates.

My shampoo is American Crew Daily Shampoo and it along with it's conditioner Now known as the "stimulating conditioner" has menthol in it and man that feels great on a warm day.

Over all though, it's a great time to be a man looking for decent skin/hair/shave products. The companies are starting to realize that yeah, we'll pay for the good stuff if it's actually good stuff.

OH OH!!! Almost forgot, SOAP!

Been using this for years as well, now soap is pretty hit or miss, BUT!

Mountain ocean's "Skin Trip" Is clean rinsing, and the bomb. The Skin Trip Lotion is Heavenly, Buy some for your woman or for yourself. It smells like hot bikini women on the beach... Not to mention it absorbs fast and doesn't leave ya sticky.

AND

Grandads, Pine Tar Soap. Smells like you're camping in the shower, it's awesome! Smells really strong of Pine Smoke while in the shower, but it doesn't linger on you too long and it's freaking great, and not too expensive. Rinses clean without being too drying.

OK what the hell... That's about everything I use accept for Cologne. And my favorite is Theirry Muglers "cologne". It's got a fresh smell that's a bit like CK One only more grown up, more sophisticated...kinda. Still a bit of citrus, but a little more spice, over all just a clean scent and I swear the ladies love it... FWIW, haven't met a lady who didn't like anyway.

Alternatively, Zaino's "Leather in a Bottle" is magic as well... I had more ladies at work ask me what Cologne I was wearing after treating my leather jacket with the stuff than any cologne I've ever worn... Leather does that... Just order some the next time you place your Zaino order.

OK that's about it, Sorry for the sorta left field thread jack. But I swear by these products, I'm picky, and I'm always looking for the next better stuff... Last I heard Snapple has it.

Rev,

Have you been working door to door...checking with all of the other "Domestic Engineer's"

See....I've been wanting to try this method. After all it's easy and makes sense. But do you use a mirror? And if so...do you need to get one of the "none fogging" types?

My problem is that I tend to "overshave" Shaving my neck in all directions to try and get it as smooth as I can. I need to just learn and do what you mentioned and shave in one direction. Which from what I understand....should be the direction the hair grows. It's hard to see the direction though. :dunno:
I straight up butcher my face sometimes :-(

Damn Revlis.....your like a ....Professional   You need to start your own man cave personal hygiene site.
Seriously though....thanks for the heads-up on the soap recommendations! I'm ordering some now as you read this.

Oh! And by the way.....Zaino products kick azz! Been using their stuff for years on my cage ride.

ok, so in addition to the other suggestions above, I have found this to work incredibly well. Its not super cheap, but just a little in the palm of your hand, water and rub it all over your face and its a super nice, easy shave. You use this instead of shaving cream/gel.

Oh yeah, by all means, use the sharpest blade you can, makes the biggest difference

soap...gell...what the hell..i dont use anything...always have.. shave in shower just the razor and water... i very very very rarely cut or irritate my skin.

Headslick works well on the head; mentholated, too. Also, once you get used to it, the HeadBlade is great for your head. I find that either don't do well on my face. For the face, Gillette Fusion and Edge gel... As for cologne and after shave... Drakkar ;)
