Young people, please read and believe what I say.
Now I know I am not the only person in this boat, but it strikes me very hard.
Today the Veterans Administration signed off for my disabled parking permit. They say that I am now handicapped enough that I deserve close parking.
I know there are people that say "GREAT, way to go". Now the kicker I am only 44. They still have not determined if I am disabled enough for an increase in my benefits, but I do qualify for the parking.
You youngsters may be asking what does this have to do with US? Well let me tell you. I injured my knees twice while in the service. I was told both times to stay off my feet, no weight bearing and the such. But me being the Young, Dumb, Gung-Ho marine that I was thought I knew better. I continued to do my job and did not care about taking it easy. I continued to climb Telephone poles, Ladders and what ever needed to be done to get my job done. Yes with a full leg cast. I continued to walk where ever I went and did not care.
Now I am paying the price. At 44, I can barely kneel, have a hard time walking without pain. All of this because I never healed properly when injured.
So if you are injured. Take the time and heal properly.
This is all very depressing to me. I do not like to be DOWN and unable to do what I want when I want.
