if a netbook has bluetooth does that mean i could use the bluetooth on my phone to connect the netbook to the net??

Yes it does, but you need to make sure your wireless carrier will allow it. At&T does, Verizon does, but not US Cellular.

yes, there's a lot of ways to do it. A few questions:

1) provider of cell service (verizon, sprint, etc)
2) type of phone (treo, windows based, iphone, blackberry, etc)
3) type of plan (unlimited data, pay per use, etc)

Based on that you might find there are some ways around monthly costs. I personally use a software called PDANet (June Fabrics PDA Technology Group). Cost very little and no monthly charges from the carrier. In my case I have unlimited data from Sprint, so this works very well

well you can try it, there could be something in the att network that blocks the tether or they could try to charge you but I'm pretty sure you can do it with that phone. I'm not sure if the "BLUETOOTH® wireless connectivity" listed for the phone extra covers a data connection or if you'll need a USB hookup.

Cool. I have an Acer and my mom uses a HP. Shoot semi a pm, he tethers his blackberry to his netbook.
