Appreciate the Paradise

Appreciate the paradise for which you have
As I sit here under the cool blue sky I ponder
What it is like way over yonder
Where people huddle and cower
From oppressive forces with greater power
No food no electricity no security in their lives
Having left home to go fight leaving all behind ,children and wives
What's it like to fight for your freedom
Being willing to give all for a better kingdom
Fighting well equipped army troops and forces
With nothing but the clothes on your back and horses
I look at the pictures of my family on my office wall
And wonder if it is worth it all
No bombs no bullets flying around me
I stand tall and walk down the street
Over there they run from snipers in their bare feet
How will it be should this happen to me
Will I fight or flee, God help me
Tears in my eyes, I see the blue skies
And appreciate the paradise

These are your teenage young men. Just a different country.

I really hope they find the freedom of self-direction, not just swapping one form of oppression for another...

Nice poem Saiid........ Any word from your cousin who stayed behind to fight a few months back?

Just random simple texts from blocked numbers wishing me peace he has lost or short prayers.
Like two or three in the last month or so. My dad says to his knowledge cousin is still in Homs.
