Goliad, TX – Gates Sets New Top Speed Record. On March 27, 2010 Tom Gates of La Porte, Texas jumped from #10 on the “Standing Mile Over 200â€￾ list to the #1 spot with an amazing run of 261.500 making him the new owner of the all-time record for the standing mile on a motorcycle.
