A Million Questions - Busa Wannabe

The only cost issue is the cost of insurance. That can range fron $1400 USD to $300 depending on where you are and your driving record. BEFORE buying bike get a quote or two on insurance. I had good luck with State Farm.

Chains and tires are a function of how hard you ride. Pete and Ducmaniac only get 2k on both. A wimp like me will probably get 3500 4K on tires.

Gas mileage improves dramatically with breakin. 35-45 mpg on the highway.

Do a search on "dialin" that I posted a while back while waiting for my Red&Grey. I got some good info from the boys. At the dealer check the fairing to make sure all the screws are in place especially down low.
Check for fairing cracks. DONT PAY FOR IT until the dealer fixes anything you find. A good dealer will find a way to have anything fixed that day. If you pay for it and go home you'll be waiting months for backordered parts.

Most of us set our TPS and balanced the throttles soon after getting it home. The tip off that they're not right is a rough idle fresh out of the box.

98% of us have had great experiences with our dealers and the bike.

Be prepared for the chix that will fall all over you and the people that will stop you to ask about her.

She's the sweetest ride on earth.

Bad...agree with you on "look feel pride and care." Fun to customize too because it's already such a radical looking bike. A 750 or 9 is best for the track for sure, but the Busa is all-around thrashable on the highway, twisties and red lights in ways that no other bike is.

I forgot to mention that my new tires are MEZ4's so I expect to get about 8000 miles out of them rather than the 6000 I got from the OEM's. I guess I'll just never make it into the "hooligan" club.

My riding on the street is like 98% old man, 2% hooligan. But when I get stupid, I like to do it right. And there is no righter bike to get stupid on than the Busa.

And the girl-magnet quality of the Busa is no joke. I get smiles and comments from women age 15 to 50 all the time at gas stations and grocery stores. The only time women don't like the Busa is when they are in their minivans on the freeway, and their 7-year-old son starts going nuts in the back seat, giving you the 'thumbs-up'. Mom doesn't want her little boy to grow up to be a motorcycle hoodlum, and she knows the Busa will steal his soul.

Actually I ride rowdier on my old bike. The Busa is civilized, kind of like a Ferrari. My old 1100 is a loud, rowdy old pig. It's a different kind of fun.
