2up riding

How is the busa for 2up riding? I don't plan on any distance longer than 250 miles. What changes are needed for some 2up riding- different seat, different rear pegs, ect.
I am about 250 miles from the beach, and 60 miles from the mountains. I want to be able to ride the bike to these places with my girl friend. I am not ready for a curiser just yet.

I did a search, but came up empty.

Very comfortable. You may or may not have to do any mods. All depends on how comfortable your girlfriend is on the bike. Typically people may get a Tobin seat or Corbin seat (w/ backrest). You can do a search for either of those and get more info. Welcome to the board.

Every time the engine is running, she thinks her butt needs to be on the bike. She says it's very comfy, no mods needed. I am 6'1" 215 and she is 5'4" and 132... busa handles us with ease. Sometimes I swear we can stick corners as fast as I can by myself....she is a very good passenger and loves to go fast. We have been about 160 2-up, no problems. I did go to a DID zvm 530 chain and a 42t rear sprocket, made an amazing difference in low speed ridability with passenger, starting off on a hill, etc....we typically ride 4-6 hours with a few breaks, no issues...upside....nea-nea's pressing again your back....

I've ridden on the back of GJoker's Busa.. very comfy back there..lots of room, and the stock seat is pretty comfy. The only thing is sudden stops tend to lift your butt off the seat.

I've ridden about 3 hours doing twisties the whole way... and it was fine. Im 5'5" and on the heavy side. GJoker said he really didn't notice me back there.

She oughta love it.

My wife and I are very pleasantly surprised by what a great two-up bike the Busa is. We also keep up with a lot of local sportbikes even if they're solo. My wife Deb is perfectly comfortable on 6 hour rides. She's 5'6" and about 130 (120 if she's reading this

) We kept our FJR originally for 2-up, but it has done nothing but gather dust since we bought the Busa. I think the Yami will be for sale soon

I ride with my friends 2 up all the time... its very comfortable! The handling is cool

...I would suggest a rear backrest though, or else the pillion has to to really grab hard at high accelration

first off, welcome to the group

third, I've done lots of 2up riding... totally stock and its just fine. I'm 5'7", one of my girl friends is 6'1" and she loves riding back there, slow or fast she says its plenty comfy. Shorter girls that have riden with me (rangin from 4'11" to 5'5") [are also just as comfy, though they do seem to slide down the seat more during braking .... so um... watch how you have things situated against the tank

upside....nea-nea's pressing again your back....

I find riding two up on any sport bike I have ever owned to be anoying at best. Not bad for a trip around the block but after a short time I get tired of the passenger leaning on me. You just can't seem to keep their wieght off you and by days end, it wears be out! If you want real comfort for two up riding, get yourself a Harley electra glide, Honda Gold Wing or the like? You will never know you have a passenger back there!

2up with the corbin seat and backrest and the passenger holding onto the grab bar isnt bad at all
once they learn to keep thier weight off of you (especially when braking) by useing the grab bar

Ok I don't know what all this nea-neas in your back is about.

Don't you guys wear your gear when you are 2-up, and doesn't she wear her gear? Thats a lotta leather to go through, and I don't care how cold it is out....they may cut glass, but they don't go through leather very well.

And yeah, 2-up on the busa is great. I love having someone back there because, well... it's sharing the fun. I have so much fun riding the busa, that it's nice to show someone else how much fun it is (without letting them drive it!) And if she has a nice trunk, your friends who follow you appreciate it as well.

The only downfall...is when they decide to shift their weight when you are slowing down at a stoplight...or worse....when you are turning at low speeds. The girl I take has a nasty habit of doing that! I've yelled at her a few times to keep her damned a$$ still during turns and and until we stop. Usually if she does it, I'll straighten the bike out and hit WOT. She likes speed, but even at 2-up, WOT is so damned fast that it scares the shlt out of her. Gotta love the power of the busa!
