240 Wheel Size

Why is it when you get a 240 kit the rear wheel is 18" rather than the stock 17" size. ???

Wide "tires" didn't start out on sportbikes, or Busas. It was the tire size available when the wheel/swingarms for sportbikes were first fabbed. It would only cost that much more to change, and for no real gain.

The looks are one of the big reasons. Is it also easier to make the tires for a rim that is taller and wider?
