24 Volt start problems ??

Hi guys,
Hoping someone can enlighten me? I was going to set up my Sand car (Hayabusa 1397) with 24 volt starting. Installed small lithium 2nd battery. I have smoked one battery, and two starter relays, trying to get this to work? I have the Neg. side of 2nd batt. connected to the starter conn. on relay, and Pos. side going to the starter. It spins the motor alot faster, but before it starts, it shorts out relay, and I have to disconnect the battery, before it burns out another lithium battery?
Has anyone had this happen? Do I need a heavier duty relay?

I just use a small scooter battery for the second battery. No problems on my 1441.

Mine does not charge. I have to keep the 2nd battery charged and it is always 24v. .
(BIKE GROUND) |||--- (-) BATTERY #1 (+) --(12v)-->STARTER RELAY>---- (-) BATTERY#2 (+) --(24v)-->STARTER

I had a pic I drew off the above but cant find it. Draw you a picture so you have a better thought of how the wires go.

This is all you use? No relays or anything else? Seems too darn easy. How many starts do you get before having to recharg the secondary? How long have you done it like this? Do you have any problems with other accessories?

Size of the battery does not matter - something is wrong if your smoking components.
