dunno where you live but we don't have that issue here....at least not yet but if and when it happens, I would rather have the "local" addicts or other "insert issue here" than have some outside people come to the area just to get treated or worse yet, put down roots and bring that type of element with them.

We can debate this til the cows come home, the point is nothing good comes from this bill except to give the impression to those without insurance that they will now get it. No legislation that has ever faced this level of negative opposition has been "good" for the country. Perhaps I'm wrong and the millions of Americans are also wrong and this new legislation will be the magic bullet for the country, making it truly what the founding fathers envisioned....I think the reality of it is that we can hope that when the Abomination is done we still have a republic, a military and are not using the Yuan for currency

Nothing, I found the drug abusers, rehab patients, and the occasional correctional patient (hand-cuffs and all) to be very polite and appreciative of the care given. They received the same level of care as would an insured patient or even a private pay patient.

When you get something that should cost money for free you appreciate it.

When you get something for free that you are told is free you feel entitled to it, the appreciation is lost.

The people that get free healthcare that didn't have healthcare before AND still appreciate it deserve some respect. But I think they will be the minority.

Any time you have to cajole, bribe, kiss arse, promise, strong-arm, and damn near politically blackmail a congressman or senator to support something that is supposed to help Americans throws up a red flag, to me.

Over 1300 pages in the new health care plan? If it takes that much to explain it to the government, Lord knows how much it will take to explain it to us.

Somewhere, somehow, somebody has to pay for this. If you can't simply say who that is without smoke & mirrors... something is wrong.

40 million Americans without health insurance. OK, I'll accept that. Does anyone know why they are without insurance? I hear the numbers all the time but never that answer.

There is no mention of aggressive measures and radical actions to eliminate waste and fraud in the current system and no incentives to do so.

WE STILL DON'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO PRICE SHOP AND LET THE MARKETPLACE DRIVE COSTS DOWN. If I need an MRI why can't I call and find out how much they charge, then call someplace else and compare prices?

Why can't someone come out and say: "We've got 40 million folks that have no healthcare. After weeding out the ones that are here illegally, drug fiends, and people that are freeloading off the system, we're down to 15 million. They can pay X&Y a year but not Z. We'll take the Z off their plate and cover it. It will cost taxpayers $XXX a year to take care of that."

Sure, no problem... as soon as the government forgives all of their student loans for med school. A friend of mine's husband is a pediatrician. He's been out of med school for 4 years and he's trying to start a practice. They have $130,000 of student loans to pay back.

Not every health care system is perfect. Not everyone's system can work here. Why not take the best from all systems and make it work for us?

I've got family and friends in the medical field and can tell you they would be happy to have $130k in school loans. Of the docs I know most have $600-700k+ in school loans to repay. Everyone one of them has told us DO NOT go the route they did....

Maybe they should have everyone on unemployment report to a local hospital for the MANY job openings available. Jobs are out there, it's just that some people don't want to take anything less than what they were making. I've heard more than a handful of people say, why work making less and loose benefits when I can get more on unemployment....

Maybe people (that claim they can't afford) medical coverage need to turn receipts in for where there money goes. I don't really feel bad when the (so called) uninsured have a brand new iPhone, rims on there car, and the latest fashion BUT CAN NOT AFFORD INSURANCE!

How about a EDUCATION ON LIFE OVERHAUL BEFORE HEALTH CARE!!!!
