2019 Photo Review - One Year of Pashnit Riding

MARCH- Southern Foothills

Planned a ride along the Foothills of the Southern Sierra Nevada, elevations below 4000 to stay below the snow line. Tons of rain last winter after four years of drought brought out lots of wildflowers and rolling green hills. Most of this region is ranch land.

Still prepping the new Hayabusa for the ride season, so rode the TL1000R instead.

Although this green quickly goes away. By April the rains are done and no rain for six months, this is all brown and hot hot hot in summer.

APRIL

I designed a brand new ride to the little town of Parkfield, pop 18, along the Central Coast. Still very green.

We started this ride in the Bay Area and headed over the hill to check out the redwoods in Big Basin SP. Cool place.

Destination Parkfield: This used to be the tool shed. Now it's a super cool hotel room that's three floors.

MAY

Memorial Day holiday weekend, it was time to head up to Northern California into the Trinity Alps, a wilderness mountain range just south of the Oregon border.

Highway 36 is down in that valley, known for 1811 Curves in 140 Miles.

We call this section of road 'The Racetrack' between Callahan and Cecilville

Remote location equals you don't want to gas up here if you don't have to.

Found Bigfoot. The 1960s famous video you see of the 'actual Bigfoot' what shot not far from here near Orleans.

All that distance, to ride Bald Hills Rd

I called the mid-section of Bald Hills 'the Racetrack in the Sky'. Used to be a gravel road. Most maps say it's not paved. Still has 3 mile gravel section.

On the way home from rides, I like to scout out new roads. This is Iowa Hill Rd outside Colfax, single lane, super fun, super steep canyon climb.

One the best parts of the day is when you just pull over and stop, nothing moves. Just walk into the forest and chill for awhile. A snack, something to drink. Pure bliss.
