2005 Busa Fuel Pump Wiring

Hi all
I have a problem with my 2005 Busa fuel pump not priming when turning the key.
I've read about wiring the pump directly to the battery to test the pump but i'm not sure which terminals i should connect to which battery terminal.
I have disconnected the wiring connector from the pump.
Hope someone can advise.
PS The problem is also intermittent, sometimes it primes and the bike fires up.
I've swapped the fuel pump relay to no affect.

ok so it's definitely an intermittent problem.
After turning over the engine a few times and turning the key on and off, the fuel pump primed and the bike started up.
I went for a quick spin and tried it again on my return.
The pump hesitated for a split second and then primed.
Andy ideas?
