2004 Gen I shock

I was wondering would I need to get a tighter spring in rear for a 225lb guy which will not be drag racing only for the street?

nope i am close to 300lbs. have no problems,until i lowered it 2" then dragged on the rear abit. could see a cloud of plastic and tire smoke behind lol

Well it is lowered i believe an inch and stretched 4-6in. I just dont want to get home from Afghanistan and have to tighten the shock or get a tighter spring.

well sounds like you will need a new spring. "tracstore" will have the right one and about 100 buck to 200 bucks

im close to 300lb also, and recently had Racetech redo my rear shock with Gold Valve emulators and 16.1kg rear spring. all i can say is this baby ride NICE now compared to how it did before!

its firm for riding but not overly firm. and on bumps its gives and springs back very effectivly. although i need to adjust it a little more.

over all i can say that it WAYY worth the $$

deff in the top 4 mods i have done (including detent shift kit, ECU tune, -1 Front sprocket)

Just did mine yesterday. Feels like a different bike. I am about 225 myself and it definitely works better than before. Don't have enough word to thank Jinkster for the write up!
