$12 Back Rest .

E bay , and I had to put the metric posts into it . Now my son , and I feel a little bit better when I hit it
All other materials on hand so after a hour of fab , and two hours of paint/pad mods it was complete . 1/4" steel flat bar after the weld required no additional support . We put a big 275 pound boy on it @ shop night last night , and got the thumbs up !

Nice job.
You always do a good job of photo documenting your "how to" postings.

So, are you saying the pad did or didn't have the bolts attached to it. Did you have to remove the cover of the pad?
What was the pad listed as on Ebay? For a backrest or something else? etc.

ill add pics of the pad work . It had a zipper guys so easy to remove cover . Wood back/foam front . I got it off e bay they have many styles . Mine was #26 style

More requested pics . Thank you Semi , and pashnit So since no post/mount studs marking a location was first . I removed the cover that had a zipper . Marked the wood back to drill 3/16" holes through . Then used a tourch with map gas to heat op a piece of small pipe 1/2 " in diameter .
It melts the foam instantly . ( hold your breat , and dont do in your house FYI it stinks . I did it in the garage but got a wiff of the smoke
Next used a small chain saw file to make the holes a little larger . Then threaded the M5 bolts with large shoulder head in . A few drops of super clue
on the back side were the studs came through to aid in holding them when lightly tightening them to the back rest mount .

FYI it also doubles well as a Helmet rack while out riding when you stop . No worry of helmet mishaps
