Modding the new Pashnit Busa

(why does the software rotate the pics, that's so weird.

Believe it or not even in 2019 photo orientation is not handled universally. There may be an orientation meta tag on the file that is interpreted by the device taking the photo but which is ignored by a PC. So think of developing a consistent routine after identifying the routine that works, including how you hold the device when taking the photo.

For existing photos, if you are using a mobile device you will have to load the pic to a PC/Mac. It will appear in the wrong orientation. Rotate it in a photo editor, and then it will remain in the same orientation when you load it to the forum.

I am unclear if switching the orientation of the device as you take the photo can solve this. You will have to test that. It may depend on the camera software too, where the stock software causes the problem but another camera app fixes the problem. Or it may always have the problem from that particular device.

Your situation may be different, but the tenets will be the same. I just happen to know that Apple devices handle pics incorrectly in this way.

Cali- stay tuned, I've got several windscreens, they change with the seasons. RKA Saddlebags I've used for many years - since 2004. This bike came with a top rack & top case, so I'm diggin' that. My original '08 had a Ventura Rack that I sourced and they had custom painted to match the bike. Likely stick with this rack, once you travel with a top case, so much easier than soft saddlebags. Still have the bags. If you look closely, this new '08 came with Heli-bars & Risers & a cut seat. But changing all that to go back to stock.
I might try to build a rack like that for mine. I had a set of RKA's on my 05, then used them on a couple other bikes...love them, but they aint cheap!

Long mod list. What’s up first?

Easy stuff first.

First thing everyone does with new bike is replace the exhaust, so fine, let's do that.

Bike came with slip on chrome Delkevic Exhaust w/ inserts - these are for sale if anyone is interested- very good shape and no scrapes or dents. PM me.

I picked up a very good condition Yoshimura R77 Carbon Fiber Slip-on set for $450 shipped from this guy:

I'm looking for this seat too...

I had stainless steel Yosh R77's on the previous Busa...

and always wanted a set of these CF models. The rubber gaskets are shot and the heel guards are slightly dinged but I contacted the Yosh Rep and they said they'd sell me a set of the rubber mount hanger gaskets - Yosh PN: HT SHLDR77 and at $5.75/each - and I pounded out the heal guards smooth with a ball peen hammer.

Tim,

Welcome back to the Busa world....I actually had no idea that you had sold the original 08. Cant wait to spectate on your build that is starting. There is nothing better than watching and helping others spend their money!!

I was a Powerlet dealer for many years and have a lot of power wires laying around, sad they went out of business. It's essential to add an SAE power outlet for your Battery Tender. SAE outlets are so common many bikes come with them already installed at the factory. I also added a Coax outlet for electric liner and a Widder outlet for a Widder electric vest I've had for 15 plus years. ( I have both). You need a long-sleeve liner to plug in electric gloves, which I also have.

The ancient 35watt Widder Vest still works great for shorter trips and is a thin tight layer under my jacket. (Widder is long-since out of business)

Worth noting once you have an SAE outlet, you can use adapters to convert power to whatever plug you've got to power stuff. Although now that we've gone to USB to power everything, that simplifies the plugs.

Gerbing, Powerlet, Warm n Safe use Coax. The Powerlet liner I've got doesn't work as well anymore.

The 105watt Powerlet Liner second generation came with a dual wireless Troller. One knob for the liner, and a second knob for the electric gloves. I found these wireless trollers eventually to be annoying and troublesome. The wireless Troller has to be 'paired' with the receiver in the liner. Worked great from the factory, but the batteries eventually wear out and it got annoying blowing through batteries & having to swap them out. I'd rather just have a wired troller and done. Keep-it-Simple-tech, but that's just me.

I likely need to get a new heated liner, they seem to wear out, which is annoying as they are expensive- originally about $350. (Trollers are $100 of that). But once you travel with an electric liner, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. With Powerlet out of business, could try Warm n Safe electric liner which also uses coax or wait for one to pop up on eBay. Gerbing is still in business and lot of the guys I ride with have Gerbing electric liners.

Don't think you need to invest in heated gear till you run into something like this.

There's are a lot of Kenny Alvarez's on FB. That's a rather common name. No idea how to reach that person without a phone or email contact.
@mabupa send pashnit the zip code you are searching so he can change his zip code to that in the fb marketplace. Should be an easy find that way.

Tim, just change your search location on Facebook market to zip code 33161 and set it for 100 miles radius.

Was able to reach the seller and he did get back to me. He doesn't want to separate the kit & I can respect that. I only want the nose and side fairings. Don't want to spend $1500 on a whole plastic kit right now. Side fairings will pop up on EB or FB at some point. A brand new front blue fairing popped up on EB in HI for $400 but that's a bit stiff for me and i don't need brand new, used it more economical.

Dang son...you wouldn't catch me on a road like that unless I had studs in the tires!

Uuuhhh...that road looks a little icy!

When you're traveling and burning through tanks of gas all day long, one less step is my preference upon filling up, so will swap out the keyed gas cap for a keyless one by Vortex. Takes seconds to swap out. Comes in many colors, this one is silver aluminum, and have either silver or blue gas cap.

Tried the Suzuki Gel seat, but they had a reputation of getting hot which was really odd. I didn't like this one and sold it.

But my favorite was the Zero Gravity Latigo seat but ZG stopped making them. I originally bought the very first one off the assembly line when ZG first came out with them around 2012. Just the right feel for sport-touring and round shape for hanging off.

Doubt I'll ever see the Zero Gravity Latigo seat again. Let me know if you have one.

Also on the hunt for one the 'Hayabusa' seats with the lettering on the side, would like to try that. They run 60-80 when popping up on CL. I passed on the last one I saw at $80 so I'll wait for the next one to pop up on CL, FB or the org.

Swapping out to the Corbin Seat. The Corbin is good and I used it combined with the AirHawk pad on the Iron Butt rides I've done but the cut is for a larger taller person & I prefer the stock height seat.

Hollister is 3 hours from me and 20 years ago, the wife and I rode our bikes down to Hollister and had them make His and Hers seats for us.

Some years ago, I had a seat made for me but didn't like how it turned out. The 'Pashnit' lights up and it has a Symtec Seat heater built in. But the seat was so hard, I used it for one 1000 mile weekend and shelved it. Still have it, Maybe it could be made into a different shape someday.

Thought of doing one of these- Russell Day Long seat, but nah. Note the extra fuel?
14717177322_b861ed0e15_o.jpg

But for the moment, we'll slap the Corbin Seat on there an wait for a 'Hayabusa' gel seat to pop up on the Org or FB. New seats are ~200 but rather wait for a used one to pop up at half that cost. I've thought of selling this Corbin, but never had any takers.

Will add the AirHawk for longer rides.

This bike came with Heli-Bars & 1" risers. I gave the Heli-bars to Matt, and removed the riser kit taking the bike back to stock. Odd I know, but I like the stock handlebar height. Haven't decided what to do with the Riser kit & longer bolts. May keep it.

Had to make a trip to the hardware store for different bolts that are shorter. $1.59 each, ouch. Plus I hopped on Amazon and bought a chrome bolt cap kit to get the bike back to stock.

More black that's removed the better. I've had these sitting on a self for years, finally unwrapped them.
