Salvaging all of the original padding from stock fairing with & without heat retardant... Then applying new adhesive and reapplying them to new fairing took me the entire day
But it's finally done!
Now All I have to do is install the fairings and if that goes well I could be riding tomorrow... because the first thing I did in the beginning was get the Busa mechanically sound
Now I'm finishing the cosmetics.

Ran into some troubles with new fairing
left side upper and lower fairings tabs wouldn't line up right they were just off enough to where it's sat cock-eyed. So I had to dig out the old fairing upper left had a huge crack in it and I spent a little time using baking soda and super glue to create a super hard paste that sticks to abs. This fairing is made out of 85% abs and 15% fiberglass fibers. So then I took some drywall fiberglass tape and J-B Weld abs fiberglass epoxy and patched the crack feels very strong.

While I was waiting for that to dry in between the two methods I installed that dual-port phone charger I wired it going through and under the tank and just attached to my battery charger leads
When the cap on the charger is closed you can still see the display

You've got to love customizing when it allows you to take out some of your aggressions per prior custom work that doesn't pan out. Custom exhaust gets in the way of custom kickstand to depress Interlock system button in all the way so that the bike will run with the kickstand up... imagine that, lol

Going to sand down original fairing ( left side) and paint today...we'll see how that ends up. I'm feeling pretty motivated about it though and as long as it's not metal I think I'll be okay
pics soon to follow hopefully.

Sanded, primed, painted and three coats of clear. I used my gazebo on deck out back. To block the wind coming from the West I used a couple tarps.
There are a couple of runs. Depending on the location I may or may not wet sand them out. Only if noticeable...but if it's from underneath not looking down, then wont worry about it.
The filler primer eliminated that crack look
it was repaired from the inside but it still looked like it was cracked on the outside. The picture here of the crack was taken before I really started standing on it
I got it down to a very fine line I wish I'd taken a picture of that but I was eager to paint.

That wall below the fairing in the last picture when black is where my dog sleeps I think I'm going to have to paint that wall too
again...ha ha

Okay so lately work hass taking precedence but I'm finally back to working on the Hayabusa.
I wasn't able to match up Flames for the bike because I am definitely no artist. But it is on the left side... when kickstands down and leans to the left a little bit so I had to come up with some kind of theme that brought in colors and what have you. I'm a gun advocate so I went with the Second Amendment. I bought some seven year decals and strategically placed them in spots where I had a couple of runs in my painting and then placed the others accordingly. Ever since I was a child I still love decals and stickers so I'm cool with it and I'm sure others will just think it's ridiculous but LOL LOL I did it for myself.

Pretty stoked right now after painting and decaling up the original fairing it snapped right up and everything's all aligned.
I cut apart one decal and use the circular edge of the writing and put it around the top vent portion of the fairing...

I don't think this one's going to stay on as it doesn't really match
I wish I could have found it in Black but I liked it so much that I put it on anyway...
it was really fun trying to put this decal on with all the curvature of the tank
At one point I didn't think I was going to be able to do it

Damn, had to make another tab. I just spotted it. It was actually never even there, but there's supposed to be one there... I found the company that made this fairing and I so badly wanted to call them up and give them hell...haha...but of course I did not. After this is done I think I only have 2 hours left but I'm going to wait till tomorrow my fingertips are killing me from work & this Basket Case.
