What to do for Winter

Hey guys I have a 04 busa and just wanted to know what some of you guys do to store your bikes for the winter I have had all carb. bikes in the past so was seeing if anything was different then what I did in the past since this is FI.

I just put in some stabil and make sure you tank is completely full. Other than that everything else is the same.

Temps dropped to a rather cool 27 degrees C (your 80 degrees F) today,
so I fitted a nice hard touring tyre (Roadsmart-3) and a new chain.

Hope to get some miles in the next couple of weeks.

My tip ?
Don't live anywhere that drops below freezing if you like motorcycles! LOL

Start it at least once a month and just let it get nice and warm.

Managed to get out on the 14 today, scrub the new rear tyre in.

Weather was nice, got in nice lazy 781K's (485 miles)

Would have been more but I had to get back as I'd promised to go out tonight.

Full tank of fuel with Stabil, up on stands if you have them, and on the battery tender. Run that fuel with stabil into the fuel system.

I ride

Start it up once or twice a month but still have it on the tender with stabil in a full tank. You never know when you get that really nice day in the middle of the winter and can take it out for a spin.

Just an FYI
The Busa doesn't charge the battery until 2k rpm and above.
So repeated long idling is draining the battery.
Just letting it idle to get warm also leaves condesation in the exhaust.
Not really a big deal, but can corrode a steel exhaust over time.

not real good for oil either

Rub it in!
It's 20 degrees here!
But, if I owned a bike at the moment, I'de go for a short cruise.

For the winter I am contemplating on whether or not to dig into this transmission myself or get it to a smaller motorcycle mechanic in the area... I recently traded my former vtx1800c for my current K5 and it has the dreaded "2nd gear slip." The guy gave me all of the parts for the fix, but still questioning my mechanical skills lol... :boohoo:
