Creating an "S" Model Hayabusa

If you have ever ridden or even sat on a "S" model from companies like Ducati, They have a distinct feeling of quality. The Hayabusa is a brilliant motorcycle but there are some compromises Suzuki had to make to meet their price point. It would be awesome if Suzuki offered a high-specification Hayabusa but of course they don't, so I have been working toward making one for about 3 years. Basically the traditional upscale model for most manufacturers involves upgrades on the suspension, electronics, and controls. So I went with Ohlins suspension first. Now other suspension upgrades might do the trick, even a simple changing of the springs and a professional setup on the stock forks - but the Ohlins are amazing. Then I went with S.S. lines and a Brembo MC. That was great, so great that I added Brembo Calipers to the front also. Brakes are solid now and the combination of the suspension and brakes makes for much more confident stops.

I actually bought the Brembo RCS 16 MC for the clutch side with the brake side but had not installed it because of issues with the clutch engagement switch. But I saw a picture on a thread of Gixerhp's setup and I had to have it. So here it is. I must say the cockpit is really nice. Very purposeful and race bike-ish. I don't have the micro-switch I need on the clutch yet so I can't give a ride report. Honestly I'm not sure why you need more feel in the clutch unless you are drag racing, but I'm thinking I'll give that a try this summer just to say I did it too.

Nice setup arch. I like where you have your remote mute for your escort passport, where do you mount the actual detector. I have been debating installing a 9500ci on my bike but if I could use one of my 9500ix that would be much cheaper. My problem is I want it to look like it belongs there not just an afterthought.

That is for a Beltronics STI Magnum. RDs are illegal in Va so I needed a stealthy system. I currently plug it into my tank bag. This is pretty clean but I am supposed to be making a CF tank bag with Echobase. Just got side tracked last year on making the mold.

Ha d not thought about putting it in my tank bag. Your carbon fiber tank mount looks like it will be pretty sweet.

Looks good . Does the cups block gauge view or are you a tall guy looking down at them ?

The fluid cups do block gauges some but they can be adjusted. I am a little over 6' but I have a long torso so I'm pretty high upon the bike. I had the RD in a magnetic tank bag and it worked but my buddy I ride with has the same detector and he was getting hits I wasn't picking up. I chased it down to the magnets in the bag. So that was the inspiration for the CF tank bag. Truth is I have been lazy about working on the project.

i kinda did the same thing with my busa. I upgraded the entire braking system, suspension, CF fairings, engine, cooling exhaust, Rims, etc...... the only thing stock left on my Busa is the key

Yeah. I was thinking of getting a no key starting system, so even the key would not be stock! When I get done the only thing that won't be upgraded is the rider!
