it has 16K miles on it, owner said original chain sprockets... So put new?

Can't say without up close pics.
They can still be in good shape at that mileage if they were well maintained.
The sprockets shouldn't have any sharp or broken teeth, or an excessive curve on the teeth.
The chain links should not bind and should move freely and not stick.
Kerosene is one of the best things to clean the chain with(and recomended in the owner's and service manual).
There are several types of good chain lubes to choose from too.
Keep the chain adjusted right and your sprockets and chain will last Alot longer.
You may also want to consider changing the sprocket sizes(tooth count) for something that better suits your riding style, but you will be fine with stock:beerchug:
