Valve cover gasket replacement

with four days before we leave for the bash, i believe this has been the most nerve racking thing ive done in a long time


We started at 8 oclock this morning, and finished around 11:30.. took it out for a test run, and it was leaking from both sides now, instead of only the right side... We did an immediate strip down, and realized we forgot to put some RTV in the semicircles:banghead::banghead:!!! Now its the 24 hour wait until its all cured!!!

Nothing like doing open heart surgery 4 days before you the biggest of the year!!! :laugh:

I would like to thank JINKSTER for his thread on valve inspection, it had all the info to do this correctly! :bowdown:

The RTV silicone sealer skims over in less than a hour...you don't have to wait 24hrs.

Was waitin to hear how things went. Sucks that ya has to take it apart agian, BUT, at least ya found the simple fix right away.:thumbsup:
 
just returned from the test ride and.................................................

NO LEAKS!!!!!!!!

She is good to go! all thats left is to put the fairings on and wait for Friday!!!!
