Thank, great pics. brings back memories. When I finished up USArmy in '64 at
Ft Gordon, Georgia. I rode that area.

Artesian wells supply legendary mineral waters to pilgrims seeking help for all kinds of ailments. Historical accounts and legend date the springs back to pre-European era when Indians considered the waters sacred and bathed in them for healing when sick or hurt. Tradition relates that during the American Revolution, four mortally wounded British soldiers were left here in the care of two able bodied men until they died and were buried. Six months later, all six returned to their garrison in Charleston, further perpetuating the springs' legend for healing.

Thanks for the pics and history lesson.

I've lived here for almost 30 years and knew of Healing Springs and that people went there to pick up drinking water, but never knew the history. Been getting some hits for not taking pix on rides, so I'm thinking this winter I might bore you guys. I promise not to do an expose` on a Walmart trip

Fort Gordon is about an hour away.

Had a triumph: rode it to Savanna, all over SC, visited my rich uncle in
Atlanta Alex McLennan, married into Clarke cotton. And uncle in
Charlotte author Burke Davis passed away few years ago. Author of
"They called him Stonewall", "To Appomattox", etc
