where is the date code on a tire? specifically a michellin pilot power.

is it just 4 digits by themselves or accompanied by other digits and or letters?

also how recent should this date be?

It will be a four digit code. First two numbers are the week and the last two are the year. 2204 would be the 22nd week of the year 2004. Most recommendations that I have heard are to stay away from tires that are older than 2 years.

The date of manufacture should be stamped into the sidewall, not molded as the numbers in your pics? Neither of those numbers are what you are looking for. Should be six numbers in a row! Such as 201406 (twentieh week, fourteenth day of 2006)
