Snakes and Spiders are our friends, no way around it. I'll escort the Roaming/Hunting spiders out of the house post haste, but the web slinging corner dwellers are welcome to stay. We've got a couple of big mothers by the front porch light and they do a heck of a business out there killing EVERYTHING insect like coming up to my door. Grew up with Black Widows, They were kinda scary but we used to feed them bugs and yeah, they are excellent at keeping your place clear of pests.
Snakes do the same thing, on a bigger scale. They keep the rodents and large bugs out. Not so important here in Washington but when I was in Tampa it was welcome assistance. Coolest part was that the Black racer in the garage had access to the entire house by going in between the walls. I even found snake poop in the attic when I was moving out.
It's cool to be afraid or nervous around snakes and spiders. It's our Caveman instincts keeping us alive. Just remember not to kill them, they do a whole lot of good. If they are in your house just remove them carefully. We have BIG spiders up here called oddly enough "Giant House Spiders". They are creepy and they are predatory so you'll see them motoring along the carpet, so I just gently get them in a Jar and relocate them, put them somewhere outside where they can hunt without giving me the heebie geebies...
