Should Gen I Speed Sensor Rotor Spin Freely?

Thanks for the replies. The allen screw is in place and tight on the countershaft. I will take it apart and fiddle with it now that I know it should be tight. Appreciate the advice from everyone.

Should Gen I Speed Sensor Rotor Spin Freely?

I took off my countershaft sprocket cover to inspect the sprocket and found that the speed sensor rotor spins freely on the driveshaft. My speedo and everything else is working fine. Is it normal for the rotor to be able to spin freely? Thanks in advance... ~Warp 7~

Gen I Clutch Slave Cylinder Questions

Can anyone tell me how to get the clutch slave cylinder seal out of the piston? Seems like the piston halves should separate to allow the seal to be removed and replaced, but I can't get it apart. Can I hone the cylinder bore out with a scotchbrite pad? Any other rebuild advice would be...

1999 Hayabusa external to internal fuel pump conversion: DONE FOR $600.00

Hi SoCal: I hope you don't end up having any issues with your 2000. Sherman Oaks is fairly near sea level, and that will be to your advantage, as any fluid will phase change to vapor at higher temperatures near sea level. I never had any issues with mine until I brought it to Albuquerque, which...

1999 Hayabusa external to internal fuel pump conversion: DONE FOR $600.00

Hi Ludicrous...Yes, I know there was a "petcock" on the original tank of my '99, but there was no way to grab onto the valve to rotate it to the off position...I don't know if there was once a lever and it broke off, or what, but I found that the shutoff valve was useless. :banghead: ~Warp 7~...

1999 Hayabusa external to internal fuel pump conversion: DONE FOR $600.00

Thanks for the reply SoCal...I didn't take any pics, but I would be happy to do a write-up if anyone thinks it would have merit. I just don't know how many '99s there are left out there, not to mention how many of those have not yet received this essential modification. The only reasons that my...

1999 Hayabusa external to internal fuel pump conversion: DONE FOR $600.00

Due to bad vaporlock problems, I just finished converting my '99 'Busa external fuel pump to the internal one, and I wanted to give a quick report. I sourced all of my parts from eBay and this forum, (mostly used) for about $550.00 total plus shipping. My labor was maybe 3 hours or so, with no...

Here may be a way to put your Gen I Busa up on a track stand more safely:

If you have ever tried to put your Busa with swingarm spools up on a rear trackstand, (paddock stand ) you may have felt the same concern that I have had of dropping it because you don't have a good grip on the bike. Hopefully, you have never dropped your bike while attempting to do this as I...

Gen I Injector Rail to Throttle Body Screws: Conversion needed

Google JIS (Japanese Industry Standard) screwdrivers. They are for any Phillips drive that has a little dot next to the cruciform drive recess. There is also a good article on these screwdrivers on the back page of the March 2013 issue of Motorcycle Consumer News. I don't have a set yet, but if...

Gen I Injector Rail to Throttle Body Screws: Conversion needed

The stock ones strip in the Phillips drive. Guess I need to invest in some Japanese Industry Standard (JIS) Phillips screwdrivers. Plus, stainless Allen drive would not only be easier to work with, but they would look trick.

Gen I Injector Rail to Throttle Body Screws: Conversion needed

Fellow members: This post is with regard to the four phillps head screws that hold the stock injector rails onto the throttle bodies on a Gen I Busa. I would like to replace these screws with stainless allen screws. First question: Does anyone know the size of the 4 phillips head screws...
