It's amazing the variety of input when it comes to chain lube. I have a friend who never lubed the chain -- EVER. And he hasn't had any "problems"... not that I would recommend it.
I just lubed the chain yesterday for the first time on my CBR954RR. I used some can spray stuff to clean it, then...
I've got an Icon TiMax mesh jacket that is literally being delivered via UPS today. After looking around at a lot of mesh, I came to the conclusion that the Icon looked the sturdiest. It's not as "meshy" as the Joe Rocket but it looks better put together. If you get back to me in a week, I'll...
Local dealerships around here would sooner let you take the sales manager's wife out for a test ride than let you ride a Busa (or any bike for that matter) off the lot.
So far, the only dealers that have let me test ride bikes are Buell dealers.
With bolt ons, you're not looking at much HP... you'll lose some weight and gain some sound. If you're going full system, you're gonna want to get a PCIII and remap (and not just a preprogrammed map -- you want to dyno tune and get a custom map for the most HP). Even with that, I'm kind of...
Sues the dealership... and the manufacturer... and the guy who sold the gas for the bike... and the shop that wired the building that had the air compressor that filled the tires....
So I was browsing around at the local dealership and there was a squidly kid in there looking at the new GSXR750. The salesman actually asked him how much experience he had riding. He did the usual "Uhm, well, uhm... some... I mean... kinda... uhmmm..." type answer.
To this, the salesman...
I think I can help... I have an '03 CBR954RR. I'm also 6'3" and about 230lbs. I find that the 954 is surprisingly comfortable, but the Busa give a little more room. Keep in mind that I put 300 miles on my 954 two days ago, so I'm not shy about spending some time in the saddle so YMMV.
Coming...
I agree... I've heard D&D's on a few other bikes and they are WAY loud. However the bolt ons on the Busa are always quiet... due to IIRC a built in silencer in the head pipes.
When I bought a bolt on for my liter bike, I went for a Scorpion instead.
Bolt on D&D's aren't all that loud on the Busa. The full system is, however. If you're going bolt on and want to actually be able to hear the cans, I would suggest the D&D as a lot of others are quiet. While cruising at speed, you can almost not even tell they are there.
"needing" back pressure is one of the myths that never seems to die. You will lose some low end torque w/o the back pressure, but you're never going to make more HP with restrictions than you would w/o.
If you like this mod, go for it. You're not going to ruin anything.
Make sure you get the V-Flow Sportech. The standard chrome model is not see-through, nor is it a double bubble design. The V-Flow, however, is a higher profile and has see-through chrome.
You gotta watch around here in Philly... it's bad enough to beat someone, but rub his nose in it in front of his homies and yours and you might catch a bullet.
I was reading your post and was thinking to myself, "Hey... I'm a guy, and I don't feel like I need to be top dog all the time." Then I got to the part where you said he mentioned his bike can do 200+, and I started to get annoyed thinking BULLS%$T! So I guess you're right... us guys do have...
