Also had this problem on a 2000 before (also got the brief FI light). I removed the right grip and took apart the electric start box thingy and the spring was corroded as fudge. So took some cleaner to that and it started up every time thereafter.

Had a 2000 with 3,000 miles on it. Had rough riding and a helluva lot of rust in the tank. Check the fuel pump. That's where my problem was. Had to replace then entire pump.

Has anyone ever installed a brocks short meg slip on before on the Gen II? I'm mechanically challenged. The kit came with both pipes, 3 springs (seems a little asymmetrical), a spring placement tool, and absolutely no instructions. I've looked everywhere for a tutorial and brock's actual website...

Is the fuel pump location a problem if the bike is not getting above the halfway point with heat. I'm willing to do what I need to fix it but don't want to be wrong if I decide to relocate it. Should a bit a newer fuel pump if I'm relocating? Thanks for the advice!

Would also prefer to not relocate the fuel pump. The temp gauge doesnt seem to be hot when the cutting out happens and from my understanding (which could be flawed) vapor lock is from too much heat causing the fuel to turn to vapor, etc etc. Thanks guys
