I would recommend changing pads before you try anything else. I have a gen 1 and changed my pads to EBC HH pads and it made a hell of a difference!!!! The first few stops were scary, thats how hard they grip. My stock pads still had plenty of life but I heard these pads were the bomb. THEY ARE...

You don't need a brake line. I have a 6 inch stretch and by turning the stock line on the slave cylinder I have plenty of slack. I think stock the line points at 2 oclock. I turned mine to 7 oclock and just rerouted it. I still have about 4 inches of slack.:beerchug:
