I think they are overbuilt to last. Vs someone like the OP, who will handle the part accordingly, however, I don't think it will be too delicate. All the Busas I've worked on always had their cowl or passenger seat come off and go on easliy too.

Yeah, that part can be trimmed and drilled, and a little weight lost. For all it does, it will be strong enough. Something like this.

That's a stamped steel part. You could fabricate one from aluminum, with basically hand tools, a drill, jigsaw, dimple-die set, hammer, and a vice. Or Maybe @Falkonworks has something lightweight to replace it with? That part could also be 3D printed, in plastic or metal. I would think either...

A 'Good' dyno tune with a full exhaust, you will potentially gain 5-10 wheel hp, and 2-3 lb feet of torque, but more importantly, a better power curve and smoother power delivery. Also look into the small and large airbox mods for a Gen1, the large airbox mod for full exhaust.

Those ecu's as you know cannot be tuned, so a PowerCommander is needed to adjust the air/fuel on a dyno.

I just don't see $43k+ Especially when a loaded Goldwing is around $30k. Apples to oranges, sure, but a huge price gap for a 'similiar' machine.
