New Steering Bearing - Is This Installed Correctly?

Thanks for all of the info folks! The photo above was from 4 years ago and I resurrected it as I was going to clean and repack the bearings as I felt some resistance when going through corners. I found a small metal shaving in the top bearing and needless to say, I replaced the bearings. I...

Thanks GixerHP, any advice on torque numbers for tapered bearings?

New Steering Bearing - Is This Installed Correctly?

I didn't have a press available at the time and I had seen people on other forums experience similar issues. I was just curious to see if it happened to any other busa owners.

New Steering Bearing - Is This Installed Correctly?

Well, talk about bringing my old post back from the dead. I am about to disassemble the steering stem to clean and repack the bearings. Does anyone have any advice on my post above? I haven't had any issues in the four years since I installed the bearings, but am still curious about...

    Another Run at Fork Seals

Hey digger, I went up to 1.0 kg/mm spring rate in the front and did not need a spring compressor. One person could compress the front springs, but two is better. One to hold the shock and the other to compress the spring. Not the same story for the rear though :)

    Switchback Flasher Question

Wow, how simple it is. I've always used Switchback LED or a variation of that. Flasher mod brought up a lot of other threads I have never seen. Thanks GIXERHP.

    Switchback Flasher Question

Hey everybody, I've been thinking about doing the switchback change for a couple of years now. I put the 3 wire sockets in the front last summer and ran "normal bulbs" and everything has worked out fine so far and want to make the swap to switchback's now while there is still snow on the ground...

    Newer CLutch Slipping

Hmmmm, tried to post this once already, but it didn't go through. Long story short to save typing. Replaced the master cylinder internals last night and after a quick test drive, the clutch is engaging almost when the lever leaves the grip. From the photo below, you can see that the outer...

    Newer CLutch Slipping

Sorry for the delay everyone, the rebuild kit came in the mail about a week and a half ago and I just got around to installing it last night. In the picture below, the old internals are on the bottom and the new ones are on the top. It's quite obvious that the outerboot is destroyed and the...

    Newer CLutch Slipping

Hi everyone, I just replaced my clutch at the tail end of 2011, maybe 10,000 kms (6,200 miles) ago and it started slipping again tonight. It's making me wonder if something made the original clutch start to slip, I missed it, and now it is affecting the new one. Here's a quick list of what I...

    Another Run at Fork Seals

Hey everyone, a good friend of mine helped with my fork rebuild over the winter. Along with new seals and oil, I also went to stiffer springs. He spent $90 on this kit: Fork Service Tool Kit and it includes everything you would need for conventional forks. He's changed 2 sets of forks on...
