The jacket liner worked very well and kept me warm on the ride home. The sun went down about the time I got north of Columbus, OH and it was definitely cold out once the sun was gone...
I think that I either need a separate controller for the electric socks or the "comfort" socks that gerbing...
Well, I made it home from my first long distance ride with no major problems. Round trip was close to 1500 miles and it was a great ride to say the least! The ride on 77 through the mountains in Virginia and West Virginia was definitely the best part of the trip! I stopped quite a bit on the way...
vman1300: Heading to Harrisburg to visit some friends. Will be in NC the whole week. I see you are pretty close to The Gap, that would be sweet to ride to while I'm in the area!
dm_gsxr: Great checklist! Very informative!
BusaWhipped: Thanks for all the good tips! I am going to get a pair of...
They do make heated pants liners as well. I have purchased the 6K HID kit for my low beam to free up some watts. I still have the stock headlights and ran low beams with the heated grips and jacket liner/socks all on and didn't have any issues. I suppose I was only using about half the watts on...
In preparation for my ride to North Carolina, I decided to invest in some heated gear. The stealership I purchased my bike at was an authorized dealer for Gerbing. It just so happened that since I purchased my bike there, I receive a 15% discount on any gear/parts/etc. Is this a common thing...
I purchased Symtec Heated Grips from Adventure MotoStuff and absolutely love them! I have done several rides in cold weather and they work beautifully. You will be amazed at how comfortable the ride is when your hands stay warm.

I have a week of vacation time left at work and have decided to take a ride to my friend's place down in North Carolina. It will be about 1500 miles round trip and I cannot wait to get on the road! This will be my first long distance ride (taken a lot of short 2-3 hour highway trips) but I am...
I have helibars and absolutely love them. I had 1 1/4" reaper risers installed but after installing them I lowered the front end so there wasn't much of a "rise" to the handlebars. I have read you can install the 3/4" risers and use the helibars if you are looking to lessen the gap between the...
I've always heard excellent remarks about Galfer and would go with what is proven to work. Haven't read much about Yana Shiki but the little I have hasn't been good....I would pay the extra $$ and go with Galfer for stopping power...

I just got back to Jackson from Muskegon and it was a chilly ride to say the least. Hands were pretty toasty though!
The heated grips I have were purchased from Adventure MotoStuff. I mounted the toggle switch on the dash panel right below the clutch side handlebar.
Welcome to the board!

Where at in MI? I live down in Jackson right now, originally from Muskegon.
Heated grips are a great investment when dealing with MI weather. Warm hands in cold weather allow you to ride a lot longer than usual. Yesterday I rode from Jackson to Muskegon and the heated grips were a life saver.
