I'm at about 8000mi now on my Avons and lots of tread left. I expect 10,000mi like I got on my sons ZZR1200 who rides with me. I change them before the wear bars, but usually the front sides are what cause a change (pushing the beast too much).
PJ1 Blue Label for many years and many bikes. No fling, but I do wipe the overspray when I'm done and before riding. Kerosene or Mineral Spirits to clean.
I run the AV45/49 (st reat sp front) on the Busa and Kawi. OK'd by AVON tech folks. 42psi front and rear. Rear is good for 10K but I tear up fronts in about 7K. They last great and stick well on these big heavy bikes. Have a set on my big ZZR1200 also: 6K miles and the front is worn pretty well...
The stock BT56 'stones handled well enough on the busa. I replaced them with Avons (SP front ST rear) of the normal size. I've used them before with success on my ZZR1200. However, on the Busa I now have a harder time getting the bike to settle into and hold a line on familiar corners. It feels...
I have the ZG BD and I agree that around 75mph and above it beats you up pretty good on the slab. I do 350 mile rides once a week and it takes about 1-2 hours of freeway to get to the twisties. That slab is not fun at 80. I rode a bit with the stock screen and it's a toss up: The stock is...
I exchanged emails twice with Kneedraggers. They are talking to Puig and trying to get something lined up for the end of the month. However, the last exchange said all Puig had was Black: Not dark smoke but opaque black...Zero transparency. Anyway, Kneedraggers has quite a few requests and they...
Slowed up enough that I stop loading the page half of the time and move on to SH.org. When it does work half decent I close the first window: It eats bandwidth sitting in the background getting animation pushed to it. Too bad 'cause this was my favority Busa board
Avons for mileage. Better performance than many of us need too, although it's hard for some to admit it I went with the ST in the rear and the SP up front to get more even wear. Can't hurt to have a tad softer front compound...

I talked (emailed) AVON and they OK'd my choice of a ST rear with the SP front. I'll probably get 7K out of the set and equal wear. Did the same thing on my ZZR1200 and loved it.
Thing that matters is you're OK. Post Mortems can be usefull, but sometimes 2 wheels are just not enough. It happens and it's not always a learning experience. Glad you came through fine.

Tricktom1,
There is experience and opinion. Opinion is not worth a whole lot. If you use the search you'll find lots of recent bad experience with Freestyle corp. Same no-cutting, keep original tailight look from themotorhead at suzukihayabusa.org.
Perhaps lucky. Dr1300 is one of the very few freestyle corp. good luck stories you'll see if you do a search. There are condiderably more bad recent stories here and at suzukihayabusa.org. Dennis (suzukihayabusa.org board owner)can be hard to get too, but I think he has a business phone and he...
