    Fairing Painting

If the paint is in good shape, then you just need to roughen the surface to create a mechanical bond. Prime first, then paint. 600 grit should be sufficient enough. Make sure you degrease the surface before roughing it though.

And Now for a Real 'What Would You Do'

That amount of deformation could have caused damage to the sidewall that you can't see. A tire blowout on a motorcycle isn't worth the savings of a single tire. I agree with the others and replace the tire.

    New owner needs relief!

I put the Heli bars on (no risers). Not bad to install but you do have to remove a few more items. That change alone will move them both up and towards you, plus I thing they are slightly longer so you get a lot of changes with that one change. As the previous poster said, you might just need...

Why do car drivers feel its okay to pull out in front of a motorcycle but wouldn't do it to a car?

Part of it is that drivers that are looking for traffic are looking for a car or car like object. Bicycles, motorcycles, and pedestrians don't tend to register to a driver unless they conscientiously are thinking about it. The other is that some people are very poor judges of depth and speed...

    DIY Givi V56 Integrated Lights

No, I have a built-in 5 volt regulator for simplicity. It wouldn't be hard to add USB power output later on if I wanted, but I would probably want it up front.

    DIY Givi V56 Integrated Lights

Sorry for the delay in replying. The cost was minimal for me because I had quite a few of the parts around. The strip of lights was about $20, an arduino nano is about $5 a board. If you have a surplus electronics store near by you can get the components for a few dollars. The plugs were...

    DIY Givi V56 Integrated Lights

Hey everyone, I just recently finished up a project that I was working on for the new Givi V56 topbox that I installed. For those that don't know, the topbox has a spot for lights on each side of the box. However, as far as I know the factory light kit will only do brake lights. Deciding...

    Motorcycle dash cam quest

I'm the same as you. I have the fast bike now but I'm very conservative in my riding. I've seen situations where a dash cam would be very useful and has been useful for others. I'm sure one could always turn off the system if one felt like doing things that were a bit more spirited.

    Finally Have My Dream Bike

Thanks everyone. The warm wishes and welcomes are appreciated. According to my red head, the bunny was the one in control of the bike.

    Finally Have My Dream Bike

Hello everyone, I've been a member for quite some time, but was only on occasionally. Ever since I started riding, the Hayabusa was my dream bike. Not sure exactly why but I loved the look and appreciated the engineering that went into it. However, funds have always kept me practical. So...

    My Colorrite experience.

I had to repaint a Burgman 400 once (some of the pieces, not the whole thing). I get my paint at Sherwin Williams Automotive (different from the standard sherwin paint stores). For automotive paint, it's reasonably priced, though not cheap (it never is). The price is probably half of what...

    Anyone ever fly? Skydiver??

Never done that, but I certainly hang glide a lot. I'm working on getting video for a more exciting video, but here's one where I got to fly off of San Francisco coast. It was a wonderful day. Gliding at Fort Funston - YouTube[/url] Sorry for the link. For some reason the video...

    D.I.Y LED Shift light

Generally it's better to connect LEDs in series rather than parallel for power consumption and circuit simplicity. For instance, a red LED typically has a voltage drop of 1.5 volts. This means that you can use 8 of these in series to have a total drop of 12 volts and not need any resistance...
