    I think I’m screwed!

Update for all.... I spoke with the dealer and regional rep (last year when this happened). I was upfront about everything. I didn't hide that I was working on it or modifying for an extended swingarm. They were straight with me and good to work with. The regional rep looked it over in-person...

How many miles will the 'busa last?

I'm back.... my first scoot was a 2006 and I didn't get to ride as much as I would have liked. I had it for five years and sold it with around 13k miles on it... nothing too impressive. My current scoot is a 2019 I've recently got just right. It's only got 2k miles on it.

    I think I’m screwed!

The homemade dog bones are precisely 5" distance from hole to hole on both. And they were simply for measuring the height of the tail section to lower the bike. I have dog bones professionally made out of 316 stainless steel to exact measurements. But in order to get those measurements, a test...

    I think I’m screwed!

I think we all had the right intentions and I appreciate the input from everyone. Once I figure out the solution, I'll keep everyone posted. It's definitely a lesson learned. The last thing I wanted is to get this corrected and then have it happen again; so that's a plus. Thank you all for...

    I think I’m screwed!

I was looking at the same picture in my book. To me it looks like the right one shows it going to touch the head of the bolt. Since the piece is broke I can’t verify but from what I remember there wasn’t enough clearance for the shims inside the frame knuckle. Since the book doesn’t show the...

    I think I’m screwed!

The washers may be turned around when I slipped them on for this picture. But you get the idea.

    I think I’m screwed!

Yes the tire is offset about 1/4”. This is very common with 240 setups. I’ve never heard of a 240 without a minimal amount offset. Here are some pictures of how it was setup. Because of the shims inside the cushion lever and swingarm mounting point, the cushion lever and dog bones actually have...

    I think I’m screwed!

I truly appreciate all the help and advice from everyone. I’ve got some thinking to do and will keep everyone posted. Before I do anything I’m gonna have a top rated welder evaluate it and see what they say.

    I think I’m screwed!

I’m not trying to pull a fast one on the dealer. But I honestly can’t figure out what would cause this. The dog bones are just like any other dog bone except they’re slightly longer. The cushion lever will only fit one direction and I verified it matches the factory way. All bolts were torqued...

    I think I’m screwed!

Here’s both sides of the dog bones. And yes the paint is worn from the shim contact. These are flat and only used to determine the hole spacing for tail height. They were on for a quick ride around the neighborhood the night before I found the issue.

    I think I’m screwed!

I’ll keep everyone posted. I’ll probably take it to a local welder for evaluation first.

    I think I’m screwed!

I’m still baffled, I followed the book. The cushion lever can physically only be put in one way. All bolts were torqued to spec. If I need to take this to a welder will the one side be strong enough to hold up the rear end?

    I think I’m screwed!

If I remember right the extra length of the link was pointing down. It clearly had plenty of room and wasn’t going to touch or rub anything. I left extra room in case the distance wasn’t correct and I needed to drill new holes at a different spacing.
