Still wish some things would have been answered about the DaveO incident.
I agree with you that there does need to be more discussion around incidents that have occurred. Anything that may help prevent a similar incident in the future...

my guess is nothing really new. Maybe it'll get abs eventually. I keep noticing more upright street bikes with smaller displacement. The 600cc and smaller are priced at the <=10k mark which seems to be a popular purchasing point. I think you'll eventually end up with the fun small displacement...
I prefer plug in gloves. Mine worked well but at speed for a long long stretch my finger tips would still get a little cold. I even wore silk insert gloves. The best option would be to install a wind guard for the grips in the winter to shield your hands from direct wind. May not look elegant...
so a super car vs. a stock busa with a terrible rider means whoever gets the jump wins... ???

The 1st event in April but depends on the weather. Last year was really cold and wet!
June would be my second option.
July is just waaay to freakin hot for me. Hell, my Florida and Texas friends even said it was to hot/humid for them in July.
