My wife took the bike down the track last night. She made about 5 passes. Never saw any smoke, and ran flawless. I could smell oil after the first two passes faintly, but now that's gone. I think we are all good again. Thanks again hayabusa.org!
No compression test needed yet...the rings WERE bad before. I put the pistons and rings from my bike in it and the bike at this point runs flawless again. It smoked sitting on the lift table but I know there was oil in the turbo still. I took it on the highway and cleared it out. It looks a...
I checked the return line, and took off the breather filter and hose from the engine per franks advice. I took it out last weekend on the highway and got the turbo spooled up for a bit. Wife was behind me and said it smoked a bunch when I got on it but off throttle looked good. When I got home...
I spoke with midwest turbo center (who rebuilt the turbo) and he said it would be no problem to send the turbo back and have a new ring put in it, but he thinks it just plain needs a scavenge pump. It's still just loading up the exhaust side with oil. It runs great again at least, but back to...
Got the motor back together and in the bike today. Still smoking a lot. I think the turbo wasn't rebuilt correctly. I'm not sure what else it could be at this point.
Tore it down and found that the rings were stuck on the pistons. The block cleaned up with a hone, and I luckily have the stock pistons from my bike with no miles on them so hopefully i'll have it back together and ready by monday.
Started it up today and it started kind of hard. It's never done that. Smoke is definitely coming out of the breather. I'm gonna do a compression test today and I'm pretty sure it'll tell me hurt piston so theres that in addition to the original problem
Well we took it to the drag strip last night. I could still smell a hint of oil but looked better. After 4 runs it started smoking again. Down return road I had a huge cloud behind me. Any ideas? I'm kinda stumped at this point.
I'm sure the height of the fitting on the pan makes a small difference but in my case this pan was on my drag bike before i bought a 2" pan so I know it works where i have it.
The reed was still in the engine breather so i took that out and took it around the block. Before I did all of this...
I sent it to midwest turbo center. I told them to go through everything and send it back good as new. They charged me $350 so I would hope they redid the seals! I hope it's not the motor, it only has 4k on it and has been ridden by my wife the entire time so it's had a pretty easy life.
