What happened to the motorcycle community?

I bought my 2006 Hayabusa in Jan of 2006. Made some amazing friends here in south florida, used to go to bike nights and sunday morning meets, post on soflasportbikes and sportbikes.net. Busa got stolen back in 2010 and for 9 years I was bikeless. In jan of 2018 I bought a brand new z06 Vette with 650 horsepower and 650 lbs feet of torque but still missed being on 2 wheels so last saturday I picked up a leftover new 2018 CBR1000RR ABS. Went back to the forums and realized most of them are graveyards with last posts being made months or years ago. Also I realized I dont see many bikes out there anymore. Not even the sunday harley riders. What happened to Motorcycling in america?

Nice bike...(and car) cool how they match each other.

It isn't just America, the motorcycling community has dwindled everywhere it seems.

Lots of people around here got out of motorcycling and the younger crowd just can't afford to ride them. Even the motorcycle training courses are almost cut in half, we used to run each and every weekend from Apr to Oct. Now they run every other weekend from end May to 1st week Sept. I asked and they don't even have a waiting list like I used to when I ran them.. I had 20 or so people on a cancellation list.

This forum is very active and we all seem to enjoy hanging out here and that's a good thing.

Love your CBR!! I had a 2004 CBR 1000 back in the day. I can relate to your post. I dragged raced cars mostly for years then retired as I was sending my kids thru school and needed my money for that. Just focused on motorcycles as a hobby and was on a few motorcycle forums. My riding buddy got hurt pretty seriously in a motorcycle accident he was my wing man when it came to riding, he can no longer ride now I took a break from riding because it felt wrong riding w/o him and after getting the kids through college. I decided it was time to do the one thing I’ve always loved doing again. Like you I visited forums that used to be alive and most are dead it seems. I agree, nothing gives me the same feeling of accelerating on a motorcycle no car can do it for me. Most of the guys locally that rode don’t anymore and lots of folks I see or know only ride Harley’s now.

Sounds like
you guys are
missing Ali !

How could you miss Ali already?
You've only been here 6 weeks! :poke:
:welcome:
I was referring to Muhammad Ali, but I do know the post was about the member that got banned. Technically I’ve been here since 2008. I joined when I bought my bike. I created a new profile when I couldn’t get my old profile to reset its password. If a mod can delete my old profile I’m fine with that.

Motorcycles are growing strong here, very popular, but forums are still declining.

Several of the forums I used to use years ago are either closed or a lot quieter, but there are multiple Facebook pages to every brand, model, style or riding area I can think of.

Facebook is the major reason for the decline of forums of all kinds. I don’t use Facebook so I miss out on a lot. The good part is that forums don’t have a lot of the nonsense that Facebook has.

Most of the popular forums were G O B B L E D up by a single large company and that put an end to a lot of the innovation and work that forum owners were putting into the sites. I was pursued for over 5 years to sell the oRg and was at a place where we were well into the 6 figures but I never sold out. This place was always more to me than just the money it was the friendships and memories.

...and thank goodness for your resolve.
