Think about this. Nearly every, state, road, city, river, lake west of the Missippi is named after Native Americans. So it's safe to say at some point they were an honored people in our culture. Then, we got the idea to link the country from sea to sea and monetize everything. The NA's nomadic lifestyle was in the way. So we started a propaganda campaign to turn the public image of the noble native to the savage killer. Once people were taught to hate Indians it was easy to proceed with the genocide.
Those same tactics are at play today. In the 70's - 90's it was aimed at black males, and a huge chunk of that demographic was stored away in prisons for things white citizens weren't even arrested for. Even the Clintons declared open season on young black males calling them "super predators". Now we are watching brown people getting the same treatment. All statistics indicate that immigration from south of the border is decreasing. Brown people in this country actually make us money, and we need them in an economy at full employment to maintain affordable food costs. Drugs come to this country through ports of entry (not over walls), and they are going to non-Latino owned distribution rings such as the mafia.
If a politician can get you to believe their propaganda, they can control you and get you to act against your own best interest. That's where we are now. Most of us have a black, brown or white person right in our own family. Yet we believe the "other" ones are the mythical animals coming to get our riches. People can't look past the propaganda and realize they have more in common with the people they have been trained to hate than the extreme rich who are actually stealing them blind.
Is it socialism to join Costco? Of course not. We pool our money to pay for things we can't do our selves as individuals and to increase our leverage as a consumer. You can save every dollar you make for a lifetime and one week stay in a hospital can wipe it out, it's simply not possible for a normal income person to cover healthcare expenses. So why not make a power consumer group that can call the shots on medical costs? It's almost stupid to run healthcare the way the right wants to do it.
So, back to the point, AOC is on the radical side but she is no more ignorant than people who argue to maintain our current healthcare system. More importantly she is the first person in a long time to champion this extreme point of view. If you know your biology, the more diverse the animal's DNA the stronger they are. It's the same for decision making. I doubt AOC will pull us into a socialism pit, but she will help pull the decision making back away from a ruthless ruling class. So the propaganda will try to make you hate her, because people are already listening to her. But in a lot of ways she is on your side.
