just the facts.

Lecture or a ticket, I ain't taking both. :D IME you'll have the best chances for even treatment from the highway patrol in California, Colorado, Nevada and Montana compared to city cops with county cops bringing up the rear. But, since the invention of the Valentine One (revenuer) detector, I haven't had much interaction with them.:firing:

How are you mounting your Valentine 1 if you don't mind me asking? I would love to have one but the weather-proofing was always going to be an issue. Also FWIW a lot of newer luxury rigs and cars with collision avoidance/lane departure systems are using X-band as well. In my experience the new Audi's seem to be the worst emitters in that respect. Gives my old Cobra Detector fits occasionally, hence my quest for a new one. Costco has had Escort 9500IX on sale for a while now and I almost bought up, until I read they dont filter this particular problem very well.

I came across the Radar Box but it just seems like weak sauce.

K&N oil filters have been made by Champion for many years, there are complaints about Fram filters also.
I would use K&N on my own bikes, have without issues for a long time. But we also carry Fram, and have the OEM Suzuki oil filters in stock at all times. Why buy Chinese, when you can get Japanese?
that's what runs through my mind when someone mentions cheap Chinese parts.. lol.. its true.

I've used Fram the last 2 oil changes, aren't they manufactured in the U.S. ?
What are the complaints relating to?
Just googled 'Fram complaints, I'm shocked at this vid, will NOT be using Fram again!

I sit it on a stem stand and if I get caught in the rain I remove it. Not speeding too fast in the rain anyway. If it's just a lil rain I put it in a zip lock bag and leave it on the stem stand. The V1 has a full logic (L) setting that eliminates the X band falsies from semi trucks, Audis and others. It costs about $400 but around here about one and a half tickets would equal that cost, and that's not counting any probable insurance hike due to the tickets. Amortized over years of use its cost is quite minimal.

I was thinking about something like this.

There are several problems I see with this. To start with, a failing with the V1 is the tiny band ID lights, all the same color. No one can distinguish one from the other in broad daylight. Even the larger arrow light isn't bright enough to alert you in daylight especially when not directly in your line of sight. Encased in that plastic box off to the side only exacerbates the problem for anyone relying on the lights for alerts. There is a company that offers a modded cover or light array setup that solves this but it's not made by Mike Valentine. For years I wore earbuds for the audio warning but got tired of wearing them. I bought an aftermarket ten LED light array unit and velcroed it on top of the audio unit, which is a necessary 'extra' for using earbuds that I already had. Since I don't get any X band hits (no cops use it) and since I know I'm not getting any 'Audi' K band hits, and knowing what to look for being aware of my surroundings, i.e.: hiway cops use Ka and sometimes, very seldomly laser, city and county cops use K band mostly and sometimes Ka but very very seldom, laser, I know that when the LEDs light up I'd better slow down. Also seeing the strength of the alert, all lights on bright and steady w/o flickering or going out, tells me how close the radar is. Keep in mind that nothing, always, saves you. Cops don't need radar to know you're speeding. Radar just pins down your exact speed for them. I'm just looking for a more even playing field and since I ride fast bikes fast and drive fast cars (my current car is supercharged for example) and I can't afford huge insurance costs, I use a V1. It's saved me thousands over the years on the bikes and in my cars.

There's a thing called the internet, buy 'em online and bring 'em into CA ?

I haven't tried that yet. And that's why I asked in a later post if that would work. However, I had a friend at work that was having trouble getting an exhaust or breather piece for his Harley, can't remember which, because no one would ship what he wanted to California.

I guess if I find something I really have to have I can have it shipped to one of my kids in Missouri or Colorado and then have them send it on to me.

I ordered a Deltran battery tender from Amazon recently and when it arrived (in CA) it had stickers on the package that said NOT for sale in California. A simple battery tender?

Funny coinkadinky...But since the invention of the 170 + HP Busa I haven't had much interaction with them EITHER :super:

The plugs didn't go bad just sitting there, the engine got fuel flooded or the plugs got fouled some other way. Bits of ceramic and metal don't fail without help.
Silly comment - of course things go bad just sitting there. Third law of Thermal Dynamics.
