Battery sounds dead

I have a 2001 drag busa with a 1397 big bore, nlr 2 step and mps auto shift. I can start the bike 5 or 6 times but then the battery sound like it is dead and wont start the bike. I check the volts and there is more that 12. I wait a couple of hours and the bike starts. Or i go down the track once come back to the pits try to start the bike and it wont. Wait a couple of hours starts right up.

It needs 12.7 volts just to fire the injectors.
Sounds like battery time.

Either a new battery or you need a charging station in your pit between runs. ???

Most people with a 1397 run 2 batteries. It's hard to start it on just 1, especially when hot. Stock battery barely has enough power to start it, if you upped the compression that just makes it worse. Do a search on a dual battery set up, if you can't find anything Schnitz racing has a diagram on their website that shows you how to wire them up.

Are you using a stock battery & starter? I have a friend that makes 24 volt system for the starter if your interested.
