All done - and damage located... every tooth is missing from the end of the starter motor, and corresponding damage to the end of most of the starter idle gear teeth. (dammit) - just had to order a new motor for £399gbp and a new gear for £35gbp direct from suzuki as they're almost...

Cheers - the bike's a 2003 - i've heard that earlier models had an inherant problem, but apparently after 2002 this was "resolved" - is that right?
